From time to time, power outages occur for various reasons across Pepco's service territory. In most cases, power is restored in less than two hours but sometimes, more serious outages are possible. Hurricanes, thunderstorms, ice storms, fierce winds and extreme heat strain the power delivery system and can prolong power restoration. Pepco personnel are well trained and well prepared to handle such events as quickly and safely as possible.
The maps below provide snapshots of Pepco's current outages and active work locations. Power outages can result from many causes including construction damage (contractors accidentally dig into power equipment), cars crashing into power poles and even animal damage. Therefore, there are frequently outages somewhere on the system, and this is reflected in the maps which automatically update every 10 minutes. You must REFRESH or RELOAD your browser to retrieve the latest data.
